Thank You, 2021!

With the end of the year coming, I am once again spending these last few days looking back at everything that have happened this year. And that really isn’t surprising because it’s become part of my routine in preparation for the new year. As soon as gift-shopping for Christmas is over, which I usually do between mid-November and early December, I review my planner notes, notebook notes, photos, social media, and anything else that would help remind me of the year’s activities, events, and special, ordinary, and not-so-good moments. And of course, as part of my tradition, I also have my vision board that easily shows me what goals I had set and which ones I managed to accomplish.

You might be wondering, why would I even spend time remembering the not-so-good moments? As much as they may have been stressful, hurtful, and any other negative emotion I can think of, I find it very important to remember them because when I compare them to the many good memories and blessings I’ve received, the good always outweighs the bad. If it’s a mistake I’ve made, I’d want to make sure that I remembered the lesson and not make the same mistake again. It’s an opportunity for me to think about how I can be a better version of myself, not because I don’t think I’m good enough, but only because I believe that our experiences change us bit by bit and we can continuously grow into our fullest potential and the best version of ourselves as long as we are living and breathing.

And of course, I love thinking about the special events, celebrations, successes, achievement of goals, and the wonderfully simple moments. I could write several pages about everything that happened in 2021, but as a follow-up to my previous post about the goals I’ve set, I’m sharing a little bit about what happened to each of them:

  1. Reach my ideal weight (hoping I get to FINALLY cross this off this year :D) – I tried and got started on this, but eventually realized that I wasn’t as determined to make it happen yet and so I let it go and told myself that I would focus all my energy into it next year. 😛
  2. Work on my blog (just started!)DONE! Yep, I got started and was able to write a few entries this year! While I wasn’t very diligent with it towards the second half of the year, I discovered how much time I spent on each task everyday and realized that I was spreading myself out too thinly. Blogging is still something that I want to work on in 2022 but I decided to create another schedule that I could follow more consistently. 🙂
  3. Donate, Sell, and/or Dispose excess home items (started!)GOAL ACHIEVED!!! This is one of the things I’m very proud of because I have been planning to do this for several years and I finally did it! 🙂 It was a lot of hard work because I had to do everything on my own from carrying heavy boxes, opening and sorting out items, taking photos of the items so I can post them online, and re-packing them so that they’re easy to pick up. I also had to fill several trash bags for things that needed to be disposed and carried them outside to be picked up by the garbage trucks. After doing all these things, I was overjoyed to finally see some space in the room!
  4. Write a new worship songDONE! Unpublished but complete with lyrics and music. 🙂
  5. Produce my original song online – This was another goal that I realized wasn’t a priority for me at all this year and so I decided to save this goal for another time.
  6. Start looking into Life CoachingACHIEVED! I could say that this was a high priority and definitely one of my highlights for the year. When I thought I was just going to do my initial research, I enrolled in a class, did my best to squeeze in time to go through the lessons and got my certificate! I didn’t expect it, but after going through the course and contemplating on how I want my career and personal life to move forward, I made the bold decision to let go of my full-time job to focus on establishing my career and passion as a Life Coach!
  7. Get married in July 🙂 – Despite the COVID-19 scare, we did it! I officially became a Mrs. on July 9 of this year. 🙂
  8. Move to a new home and start a new life – Because I now have space in my apartment, my husband and I decided that instead of moving to a new home, we would live in my apartment and start our new life there together. It wasn’t exactly the plan, but it was a pleasant surprise! I got to achieve this goal in a more cost-efficient way. 🙂

6 out of 8 goals achieved for my 2021 on top of all the other blessings I’ve received this year! How cool is that? There were low moments, high moments, bad moments, and awesome moments, but overall, the only thing I can really say is, THANK YOU 2021!!!

SO READY FOR 2022!!! 🙂
