All About Treats

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I thought it might be a good idea to post recipes of treats from today until Feb 14. I will be focusing on cookies, cakes, sweet breads, etc and they may be mostly chocolate falvored. These are recipes that I have used in the past, used once, have always used, or maybe I have tried it from other people and asked for the recipe. Let me start you off with my all-time favorite treat: Brownies. I have made brownies from scratch only twice and the first recipe I picked was from the Hershey’s website just to make sure it’s been tried and tested by many and is easy to follow. It is so good you might just eat it all in one day!

HERSHEY’S BEST BROWNIES

  • 1 c butter or margarine (2 sticks)
  • 2 c sugar
  • 2 ts vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 c Hershey’s Cocoa/natural cocoa powder
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 ts b powder
  • 1/4 ts salt
  • 1 c chopped nuts (optl)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oven to 350º F. Grease  13x9x2 baking pan.
  2. Place butter in large microwave safe bowl. Microwave at medium, 2-2 1/2 mins or until melted. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well with spoon after each addition. Add cocoa, beat until well blended. Add flour, b powder and salt; beat well. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into pan.
  3. Bake 30-35 mins or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.
